About Us

The Agora Central Europe (Agora CE) civic association was founded in 1998 with the aim of helping to enhance communication between local governments, central government bodies and citizens.

Within this effort, the Association pursues consulting, advisory, educational, moderating and other activities. It publishes materials about its work, produces and spreads documentary filmy, etc. It organises public meetings, workshops, social and cultural events, and pursues various other activities including work witch youth, aiming to meet its objectives.

Agora Central Europe’s general mission is to support democratic processes with the following objectives:

_ to enhance communication and co-operation between citizens and town halls
_ to expand the possibility of town halls to openly plan and decide on issues with citizens taking part
_ to arouse the interest of citizens in community issues
_ to back the development of local democracy in the Czech Republic
_ to help enhance political culture in the Czech Republic

How do we achieve our objectives?
_ we create, co-ordinate, and implement specific projects of citizen participation in decision-making in towns and regions (we organise public inquiries, questionnaire surveys, process their outcomes, we organise public meetings, steer the activities of working groups, handle the results of the entire process and on their basis create development plans for towns and regions in specific areas)
_ we hold, organise and steer public debates, meetings, and discussions on specific issues
_ we organise public inquiries and questionnaire surveys and process their outcomes (opinion polls, telephone interviews)
_ we moderate (facilitate) the activity of working groups (meetings, workshops, etc.)
_ we organise seminars and conferences on citizen participation in the decision-making process
_ we organise cultural and social events
_ we hold expert training courses on the use of new methods of communication with citizens in the segment of public  administration
_ we provide advisory services in the realm of public debates and discussions and their forms
_ we provide advisory services in the realm of citizen participation in the decision-making process

The final round of On The Way to the Parliament

The final round of student´s debates will take place in the Parliament of Czech Republic (Státní akta, Snìmoví 4, Praha 1) on the June 2nd at 10 o’clock.

The attendees will be students from four debating teams that won the regional rounds. The winner will be published at our website after the final.

Public debate in Jesenice

Agora CE organizes public debate focusing on changes of the Spatial Plan in Jesenice. It will take place on January 20 at 6pm in Disco bar Holiday in Jesenice.

The public debate is a part of bigger project called Suburbanization conference.

Pre-election debate - canceled

Pre-election debate will be organized by Agora Central Europe in October. The main political parties will be invited to attend the debate and you will have the chance to question them face to face. We will give more details soon.
